The Story Behind the Studio
Nicky's Atelier is a creative space in the heart of Clevedon where people of all ages and backgrounds come to make art together.
We believe art belongs to everyone - not just those who were told at school they were good at it. Too many people carry that label for years. Not artistic. Not creative. Not the type. Our workshops are here to gently challenge that.
Sessions are relaxed, hands-on, and led by someone who has spent her career helping people find their own creative voice. There's no pressure to produce something perfect. There's no prior experience needed. There's just a small, friendly group, good guidance, and time set aside for something that's entirely yours.
Beginners are always welcome. So are people who simply want to slow down, make something with their hands, and see what happens.

My Story
Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember - from childhood sketchbooks to a decade as a senior designer in the British fashion industry. But it was teaching that changed everything.
After retraining as an art educator, I spent 15 years in schools - eventually leading art departments as Head of Art. I loved it. But I wanted to do something different: a space outside the school system, open to anyone, built around the joy of making rather than grades or outcomes.
Nicky's Atelier opened in Clevedon in 2024. It grew quickly - because Clevedon was ready for it.
My Philosophy
I believe that everyone is creative, but not everyone has been given the chance to find out.
The workshops at Nicky's Atelier are built around process, not perfection. Each session explores a different technique, medium, or artist - giving you the tools and the confidence to experiment. You'll leave having made something. Usually something better than you expected.
My Workshops
Sessions run weekly at the studio on Old Church Road in Clevedon, next door to The Library Café Bar. Small groups, plenty of guidance, and a relaxed atmosphere where it's fine to ask questions and make mistakes.
Drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, and regular special sessions including Sip and Sketch, masterclasses, and children's parties.
